Giant Cell Granuloma Associated with Lesions resembling Polyarteritis Nodosa.
The association of peculiar giant-cellular granulomatous lesions of the upper respiratory tract and the lungs or other organs with necrotizing vascular lesions resembling polyarteritis nodosa has been seldom reported. Klinger (1931) described one case; R6ssle (1936) one case; Wegener (1939) three case-s; Neumann (1940) four cases; Banowitch, Polayes, and Charet (1942) one case; Lindsay, Aggeler...
متن کاملPolyarteritis nodosa associated with streptococcus.
Twelve children are described with an essentially benign vasculitic illness in association with streptococcal infection. They demonstrated characteristic clinical features of nodular cutaneous polyarteritis with fever. Laboratory findings showed an acute phase response associated with raised antistreptolysin and antihyaluronidase titres in all patients and a positive throat culture for beta hae...
متن کاملThree Cases Resembling Polyarteritis Nodosa Arising during Treatment with Guanethidine.
Widespread inflammation of the walls of small arteries, either in the form of classical polyarteritis nodosa or as a generalized arteritis, has been described as a result of sensitization of the human body to a variety of antigens. Many of these have not been of a protein nature, and then it is assumed that the incriminated substance has acquired its antigenic properties by becoming linked to a...
متن کاملExtensive intracranial lesions in a case of orbital non-specific granuloma combined with polyarteritis nodosa.
A unique case of a non-specific orbital granuloma in a 65-year-old woman is described. Necropsy disclosed extensive spread of the granuloma to the pachy- and leptomeninges as well as elsewhere. There were also signs of generalized polyarteritis nodosa. For five years the patient had severe facial pain and for four years signs of impaired renal function. A psychosis developed two months before h...
متن کاملPolyarteritis nodosa associated with acute cytomegalovirus infection.
A case of polyarteritis nodosa is described in which the onset of the disease was associated with acute infection by cytomegalovirus. Peripheral neuropathy was the predominant clinical feature, and death occurred 4 years after the onset. This is the first recorded case of polyarteritis in which cytomegalovirus is of possible aetiological significance.
